Modern Feminism
Oh HELL no!
"A 37-page document "On the Collaboration of Men and Women in the Church and in the World," [...] criticizes feminism's attempt to erase gender differences."
Hey look at that: the Vatican has no concept of feminism.
Heavens! We might just have a BRAIN.

I also criticize any attempts to erase gender differences, depending on what differences you are talking about. I disagree with anything that suggests that boys should be raised like girls, or that there are no differences between the sexes other than social ones, or that there shouldn't be. I see no reason why differences shouldn't be recognized and exalted.
I haven't read the Document, but I agree with much of what the article highlights, such as:
- "many women felt they had to be "adversaries of men" in order to be themselves."
- "Faced with the abuse of power, the answer for women is to seek power. This process leads to opposition between men and women..."
I don't see this as anything other than a normal step in the evolution of the relationships between men and women. There isn't necessarily anything wrong with this. They are growing pains, in a way. Any group seeking power will clash with the group that already has it.
As for the Vatican's view on what feminism is, perhaps you should tell us. It means different things to different people. For some, it is a means by which the social order is altered in such as way that women are at the center of it and men are removed from power. Others view it as a way to promote the changing roles of women in society, white red, gay or whatever. And still others view it as simply a political force with no connection to reality. Before attacking the Vatican with not knowing what feminism is, try to set the ground rules for your discussion by discussing what the word means to you. But be careful: it is one of the more subjective (post-)modern concepts out there.
