Rape is okay if the vic is active sexually

Or rather, it's no big deal. An Italian judge rules that a convicted rapist can seek a lower sentence not because he's entitled to some kind of appeal like everyone else, or because the sentence in and of itself doesn't fit the crime. The rapist can seek it because his victim--the 14-year-old daughter of his then-girlfriend, was already sexually active with other people at the time.

Logically, one could argue that a 40-year-old virgin rape victim can demand that the one that rapes him or her be given ma much stronger sentence. Untrue, because I would think that they would believe that 40-year-old virgins should be broken in anyway. The rape would be like doing them a favour.

They are saying that you can basically only rape virgins. Anyone that is unmarried and sexually active is available for anyone's consumption without much fear of reprisal. That "at the time of the encounter with the suspect her personality, from a sexual point of view, was much more developed than what one might normally expect from a girl of her age." Apparently there are fairly well-defined degrees of rape. The more I think about this, the more I see similarities between Italy and North America in that respect. You can be charged with 1st, 2nd or 3rd degree rape here, so that's telling us something. It's worse if the vic is a virgin, and not nearly as bad the more partners a girl/woman has had. I see an asymptotic relationship between the number of partners a woman has had and the gravity of raping them. I don't actually understand why this is, though. I've never been able to put a high value on someone's virginity. I've never been anyone's first and I consider myself lucky.
