Or orthodox anything, but sucking a baby's penis for any reason seems like a bad idea at the very least. Three babies in New York State alone have died as a result of metzitzah b'peh, (loosely translated as "oral suction") the sucking of blood from the penis of a newly circumcised baby boy, to stem its flow. At one time matzitza-bpeh was a medically necessary procedure. I do find the need for scientific justication of a medical practice for another medically unnecessary ritual rather ironic. Most mohels and Rabbis no longer practice this, preferring to use a tube or something instead. It's sad sometimes, what people will do for tradition even when faced with thousands of reasons why the tradition should be abandoned. Why? "The Orthodox Jewish community will continue the practice that has been practiced for over 5,000 years," said Rabbi David Niederman of the United Jewish Organization in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, after the meeting with the mayor. "We do not change. And we will not change."
In other words, just because.
A farmer in Texas claims to have caught a chupacabra, a legendary animal that stalks small animals and kills them by sucking their blood. Apparently these things are mixes between dogs, rats and kangaroo. I might add, vampire bat. I think it would be amazing if these things were acknowledged and taken out of the realm of pure legend. How wily these thing must be if they can keep under the radar for so long.
A pervert in NYC (imagine!) was exposed to the world after a woman he was exposing himself to pulled it out-her camera phone, that is-snapped a picture and posted it on Flickr and Craigslist. I think I'll be taking pictures of bad behaviour in general with my phone and posting them here.
The septuagenarian whose photo on the Buena Vista Social Club album from 1997 has died. He was a master at his trade, and he died having friends, family and even fans. He'll be missed. Read about his "terrorism" last year.
But this seems dirty. You decide.
