In case you haven't heard already, Travis Frey is charged with the kidnapping of his wife. At issue is the Contract of Wifely Duties that he drew up. This is a set of rules that she would hopefully sign and be lawfully bound to follow. At least in his head, such as it is. Here are some of the juicier bits, summarized:
I understand that there are many types of relationships out there, and that if she were the type to need to be controlled in that way (and they do exist in all degrees), then I'd say that this guy would be pretty damned lucky. There are all kinds of people. Given that she felt threatened by this man, and that she did not seem to have any real interest in playing this game every single day of her life, I would really love to take a sledgehammer to this guy's whatever. Fucking asshole doesn't quite describe how I feel about him. I don't even caer if he is mentally ill, I really don't.
I don't think that I could have made this post better. It's the best sex and society commentary I have read in a long time. There are many sexual things that I don't understand, and would not do, even though I might enjoy them if I could get my head (!) around certain concepts. But generally speaking, I can't really say a whole lot about the things I wouldn't do. Sex is one of those things where if you aren't into a particular activity, you probably won't understand it, and you are almost certainly not in a position to judge anyone else who is. (This is also true for those and are into something considered standard, and someone else is not.)
I am not into BDSM at all. I could open my mind more to it, but at present I am not interested. I would never judge anyone negatively for liking it, though. I actually find it to be quite a noble and romantic fetish scene in many ways. Bacchus [email link] has exposed exactly why alternative sex lifestyles and practices exist. He was able to show why, in a smile, it is worth it. For that I thank him. We can all breathe easy knowing that we are perfectly good people despite the things that make us different.
Silly me, I figured that there was nothing else to this guy until the year 2020 at least. But I was wrong. He had bragged about raping a large number of women in the early 90s, but now he has confessed to 10 more assaults in order to "clear up some loose ends". I wonder what these loose ends could possibly be.
No really, check it out. They photoshop porn and make it funnier. Nice work. They say it's NSFW, but I disagree.
Or rather, it's no big deal. An Italian judge rules that a convicted rapist can seek a lower sentence not because he's entitled to some kind of appeal like everyone else, or because the sentence in and of itself doesn't fit the crime. The rapist can seek it because his victim--the 14-year-old daughter of his then-girlfriend, was already sexually active with other people at the time.
Logically, one could argue that a 40-year-old virgin rape victim can demand that the one that rapes him or her be given ma much stronger sentence. Untrue, because I would think that they would believe that 40-year-old virgins should be broken in anyway. The rape would be like doing them a favour.
They are saying that you can basically only rape virgins. Anyone that is unmarried and sexually active is available for anyone's consumption without much fear of reprisal. That "at the time of the encounter with the suspect her personality, from a sexual point of view, was much more developed than what one might normally expect from a girl of her age." Apparently there are fairly well-defined degrees of rape. The more I think about this, the more I see similarities between Italy and North America in that respect. You can be charged with 1st, 2nd or 3rd degree rape here, so that's telling us something. It's worse if the vic is a virgin, and not nearly as bad the more partners a girl/woman has had. I see an asymptotic relationship between the number of partners a woman has had and the gravity of raping them. I don't actually understand why this is, though. I've never been able to put a high value on someone's virginity. I've never been anyone's first and I consider myself lucky.
Remember when 1 megabyte was an insanely huge file size? Now 250 gigabyte drives are the norm. You can carry a gigabyte in your pocket. Now they've come up with a possible design for hard drives that are in the petabyte range. A Pb is 1024 Tb (terabytes), which is 1 048 576 Gb. Basically about a quadrillion bytes. Makes me wonder what kind of consumer, or business, for that matter, could use a petabyte. This is almost unimaginably huge. I'd rather have the ability to multitask in Windows, to move files around different logical drives or around a LAN as easily as I can within a logical drive. Or be able to up/download file to servers much faster.
By the way, IF I were to pick a character to cosplay, it would be this one.
Jonathon Narcisse, founder of the State of Black Iowa Initiative, who recently wrote of a down-and-out former Des Moines-area star who now sells his body to finance his addictions."The argument in his day was that poor kids and black kids needed sports to stay out of trouble, to stay in school," wrote Narcisse. "The truth then, as it is now: We don't give a damn about these kids. They entertain us."
As reported here, there is a chocolate penis making kit out there. I never knew how much it was until now. $30 bucks plus (probably insane) shipping. And the real vibrator is only $40. Check out the gallery (including the one holding his like a victorious sword and the unfortunate bloke with apparent Peyronie's disease) But the best part about this is the description:
But what to do with your clone when it’s finished? Well, obviously your first instinct will be to put it up on the mantlepiece and show dinner guests when the pop round. You could also take it to work, and use it as a handy paperweight. Then again, you could always give it to the wife and tell her she can finally have that orgazm you’ve always promised her. Or if you’re feeling really bold, you could bring it to bed with you, shove it up your own arse, and show the missus that it does fit, it doesn’t hurt that much, and would it kill her to try it just once?
If I were working and not travelling very soon, I'd definitely buy one of each product. But not the Clone-A-Pussy. No. Ugh.

I don't think I have anything to add to the written commentary accompanying this video clip (Salon, deal with it, it's worth it) except to say that I wish that there were more celebrities like her. I also love seeing Lesley Stahl shut down.
If I could find whoever is responsible for this, I'd beat them in the face with that piece of concrete until not even the facial reconstruction team in France could help them. Have you ever asked anyone that does or has done anything like this so randomly why they did it? I'd love to know.
Check out this Girlpower flash presentation showing how magazine images are manipulated to make people (women) much more attractive than they actually are, sometimes impossibly so. When you look at the beginning image you might not say much, because we see images like this every single day pretty much. But as you break down all the things they did to change the images to make it more attractive to consumers, you start to realize that you are being forcefed a steady diet of horseshit. Furthermore, if you saw the unretouched girl in the street, you might think that she's a pretty 14-year old girl. But not so much compared to the non-existent bombshell that they made her out to be, who could be 19 years old. It makes it very easy to get young women to shell out all kinds of money, I suppose.
